Using self–portraiture through casting and print to explore the exploitation of femininity in an androcentric society and understanding the ambiguity surrounding the definition of femininity and its controversy. How in contemporary society femininity can only be accepted when it is used to serve the masculine’s dominance in society, leaving the feminine submissive with a sense of emptiness.
Through my use of self - portraiture, I conveyed a sense of vulnerability and exposure, allowing me to establish a deeper connection with the subject matter. The female body becomes a tangible representation of femininity, reflecting the parallel controversies that surround both femininity and the female body in contemporary society. Furthermore, I chose to incorporate materials traditionally associated with femininity, such as crochet and oil paints, to enrich the narrative of my work.
